Eco Decking Systems, established in 2005 by Steve Obertelli and his partner Louise Reeves, a company fitting decking in the south of Spain and Portugal. Anticipating the change in mindset and the eventual change in ecological and sustainable construction legislation, they sought to expand their established Spanish business by sourcing a new decking compound, a new wood alternative.
Over the next 2 years, Steve researched various companies and products across the world, the task of finding a truly environmentally friendly alternative to traditional decking that was both easy to work with and cost effective was not an easy one. Eventually his research took him to China and the T&T group and its US based subsidiary New Tech Wood.
New Tech Wood was working with a unique product, Agro-Plastic Composite (APG), a non slip, no maintenance wood substitute made from recycled rice husk and plastic. Between the manufacturer and Steve the decking product was developed for the European market, at this time both parties saw an opportunity to develop other products for the same market and helped to forge a close working relationship in which both would be at the forefront of technological development.
Since the development of the decking sales in both Spain and the UK, another product has been developed, again with ever increasing pressure on the construction industry to use sustainable and recycled products; a 100% recycled plastic slate/shingle that is both flexible and self bonding; New Tech Ecoslate. This product is set to revolutionise the pitched roofing sector, and is in every way unique.
Eco Decking & Roofing Systems has formed a working relationship with Mardon PLC, an established global trading company in the food industry. Mardon have headquarters in Lancaster which will give Eco Decking and Roofing Systems an operating centre and regional offices both in Eastbourne and Lancaster.
Eco Decking & Roofing Systems is fully committed to developing new and sustainable products with the environment in mind. The company is now an established supplier of ecological products to a construction and leisure industry that is increasingly being driven down the zero carbon road.
